והוה ביומיא האינון וכנשו פלשתאי ית משיריתהון לחילא לאגחא קרבא בישראל ואמר אכיש לדוד מדע תדע ארי עמי תפוק במשריתא את וגברך:
wgbrk ath bmshrytha thpwq emy ary thde mde ldwd akysh wamr byshral qrba lagkha lkhyla mshyrythhwn yth plshthay wknshw haynwn bywmya whwh
In those days, the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, “Know assuredly that you will go out with me in the army, you and your men.”

ואמר דוד לאכיש בכן את תדע ית די יעבד עבדך ואמר אכיש לדוד בכן נטרא לרישי אשוינך כל יומיא:
ywmya kl ashwynk lryshy nTra bkn ldwd akysh wamr ebdk yebd dy yth thde ath bkn lakysh dwd wamr
David said to Achish, “Therefore you will know what your servant can do.” Achish said to David, “Therefore I will make you my bodyguard forever.”

ושמואל מית וספדו עלוהי כל ישראל וקברוהי ברמתא וספדו עלוהי אנש בקרתיה ושאול פלי ית בידין וזכורו מן ארעא:
area mn wzkwrw bydyn yth ply wshawl bqrthyh ansh elwhy wspdw brmtha wqbrwhy yshral kl elwhy wspdw myth wshmwal
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had sent away those who had familiar spirits and the wizards out of the land.

ואתכנישו פלשתאי ואתו ושרו בשונם וכנש שאול ית כל ישראל ושרו בגלבוע:
bglbwe wshrw yshral kl yth shawl wknsh bshwnm wshrw wathw plshthay wathknyshw
The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem; and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.

וחזא שאול ית משרית פלשתאי ודחיל וזע לביה לחדא:
lkhda lbyh wze wdkhyl plshthay mshryth yth shawl wkhza
When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.

ושאיל שאול במימרא דיי ולא קבל צלותיה יי אף בחלמיא אף באוריא אף בספריא:
bsprya ap bawrya ap bkhlmya ap yy tslwthyh qbl wla dyy bmymra shawl wshayl
When Saul inquired of Yahweh, Yahweh didn’t answer him by dreams, by Urim, or by prophets.

ואמר שאול לעבדוהי בעו לי אתתא דידעא לאסקא בידין ואהך לותה ואשאל בה ואמרו עבדוהי ליה הא אתתא דידעא לאסקא בידין בעין דור:
dwr beyn bydyn lasqa dydea aththa ha lyh ebdwhy wamrw bh washal lwthh wahk bydyn lasqa dydea aththa ly bew lebdwhy shawl wamr
Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” His servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at Endor.”

ואשתני שאול ולבש לבושין אוחרנין ואזל הוא ותרין גברא עמיה ואתו לות אתתא בליליא ואמר קסמי כען לי בבידין ואסקי לי ית דאימר לך:
lk daymr yth ly wasqy bbydyn ly ken qsmy wamr blylya aththa lwth wathw emyh gbra wthryn hwa wazl awkhrnyn lbwshyn wlbsh shawl washthny
Saul disguised himself and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night. Then he said, “Please consult for me by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomever I shall name to you.”

ואמרת אתתא ליה הא את ידעתא ית דעבד שאול דשיצי ית בידין וית זכורו מן ארעא ולמא את מתגרי בנפשי למקטלי:
lmqTly bnpshy mthgry ath wlma area mn zkwrw wyth bydyn yth dshytsy shawl debd yth ydetha ath ha lyh aththa wamrth
The woman said to him, “Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who have familiar spirits and the wizards out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?”

וקים לה שאול במימרא דיי למימר קים הוא יי אם יערעינך חובא בפתגמא הדין:
hdyn bpthgma khwba yereynk am yy hwa qym lmymr dyy bmymra shawl lh wqym
Saul swore to her by Yahweh, saying, “As Yahweh lives, no punishment will happen to you for this thing.”

ואמרת אתתא ית מן אסיק לך ואמר ית שמואל אסיקי לי:
ly asyqy shmwal yth wamr lk asyq mn yth aththa wamrth
Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up to you?” He said, “Bring Samuel up for me.”

וחזת אתתא ית שמואל וצוחת בקל רב ואמרת אתתא לשאול למימר למה שקרת בי ואת שאול:
shawl wath by shqrth lmh lmymr lshawl aththa wamrth rb bql wtswkhth shmwal yth aththa wkhzth
When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!”

ואמר לה מלכא לא תדחלין ארי מה חזית ואמרת אתתא לשאול מלאכא דיי חזיתי דסליק מן ארעא:
area mn dslyq khzythy dyy mlaka lshawl aththa wamrth khzyth mh ary thdkhlyn la mlka lh wamr
The king said to her, “Don’t be afraid! What do you see?” The woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.”

ואמר לה מה חזויה ואמרת גברא סבא סליק והוא עטיף מעילא וידע שאול ארי שמואל הוא וכרע על אפוהי על ארעא וסגיד:
wsgyd area el apwhy el wkre hwa shmwal ary shawl wyde meyla eTyp whwa slyq sba gbra wamrth khzwyh mh lh wamr
He said to her, “What does he look like?” She said, “An old man comes up. He is covered with a robe.” Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and showed respect.

ואמר שמואל לשאול למה אזעתני לאסקא יתי ואמר שאול עקת לי לחדא ופלשתאי מגיחין קרבא בי ומימרא דיי רחיק יתי ולא קביל צלותי עוד אף ביד ספריא אף בחלמיא וקרית לך להודעותני מה אעביד:
aebyd mh lhwdewthny lk wqryth bkhlmya ap sprya byd ap ewd tslwthy qbyl wla ythy rkhyq dyy wmymra by qrba mgykhyn wplshthay lkhda ly eqth shawl wamr ythy lasqa azethny lmh lshawl shmwal wamr
Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me, to bring me up?” Saul answered, “I am very distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me, and answers me no more, by prophets, or by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.”

ואמר שמואל ולמא את שאיל יתי ומימרא דיי רחיק יתך והוה בסעדיה דגברא די את בעיל דבביה:
dbbyh beyl ath dy dgbra bsedyh whwh ythk rkhyq dyy wmymra ythy shayl ath wlma shmwal wamr
Samuel said, “Why then do you ask me, since Yahweh has departed from you and has become your adversary?

ועבד יי ליה כמא דמליל בידי ואעדי יי ית מלכותא מנך ויהבה לחברך לדוד:
ldwd lkhbrk wyhbh mnk mlkwtha yth yy waedy bydy dmlyl kma lyh yy webd
Yahweh has done to you as he spoke by me. Yahweh has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, even to David.

כמא דלא קבילתא במימרא דיי ולא עבדתא תקיף רוגזיה בעמלק על כן פתגמא הדין עבד לך יי יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma yy lk ebd hdyn pthgma kn el bemlq rwgzyh thqyp ebdtha wla dyy bmymra qbyltha dla kma
Because you didn’t obey Yahweh’s voice, and didn’t execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore Yahweh has done this thing to you today.

וימסר יי אף ית ישראל עמך בידא דפלשתאי ומחר את ובנך עמי אף ית משריתא דישראל ימסר יי בידא דפלשתאי:
dplshthay byda yy ymsr dyshral mshrytha yth ap emy wbnk ath wmkhr dplshthay byda emk yshral yth ap yy wymsr
Moreover Yahweh will deliver Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Yahweh will deliver the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.”

ואוחי שאול ונפל מלי קומתיה לארעא ודחיל לחדא מפתגמי שמואל אף חילא לא הוה ביה ארי לא אכל לחמא כל יומא וכל ליליא:
lylya wkl ywma kl lkhma akl la ary byh hwh la khyla ap shmwal mpthgmy lkhda wdkhyl larea qwmthyh mly wnpl shawl wawkhy
Then Saul fell immediately his full length on the earth, and was terrified, because of Samuel’s words. There was no strength in him, for he had eaten no bread all day long or all night long.

ואתת אתתא לות שאול וחזת ארי אתבהיל לחדא ואמרת ליה הא קבילת אמתך מנך ומסרית נפשי כעל גב לאתקטלא ושמעית ית פתגמך דמלילתא עמי:
emy dmlyltha pthgmk yth wshmeyth lathqTla gb kel npshy wmsryth mnk amthk qbylth ha lyh wamrth lkhda athbhyl ary wkhzth shawl lwth aththa wathth
The woman came to Saul and saw that he was very troubled, and said to him, “Behold, your servant has listened to your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.

וכען קביל כען אף את למימר אמתך ואשוי קדמך פתא דלחמא ואכול ויהי בך חילא ארי תיזיל באורחא:
bawrkha thyzyl ary khyla bk wyhy wakwl dlkhma ptha qdmk washwy amthk lmymr ath ap ken qbyl wken
Now therefore, please listen also to the voice of your servant, and let me set a morsel of bread before you. Eat, that you may have strength when you go on your way.”

וסריב ואמר לא אכול ואתקיפו ביה עבדוהי ואף אתתא וקביל למימריהון וקם מארעא ויתיב על ערסא:
ersa el wythyb marea wqm lmymryhwn wqbyl aththa wap ebdwhy byh wathqypw akwl la wamr wsryb
But he refused, and said, “I will not eat.” But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he listened to their voice. So he arose from the earth and sat on the bed.

ולאתתא עגל פטים בביתא ואוחיאת ונכסתיה ונסיבת קמחא ולשת ואפיתיה פטיר:
pTyr wapythyh wlshth qmkha wnsybth wnksthyh wawkhyath bbytha pTym egl wlaththa
The woman had a fattened calf in the house. She hurried and killed it; and she took flour and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread of it.
